Dreyer Forlag’s roots date back to 1942, when the poet Alf Larsen, together with Barthold Butenschøn, founded a midsize highbrow publishing company by that name. During its existence, the company has been through multiple mergers, a closure, and a resurrection. For some years, it went by the name Andresen & Butenschøn AS. The Butenschøn family are still involved with Dreyers Forlag, which today is situated in Oslo, in Dronningens gate 16, and owned by AS Forlagsfinans.
